This Livestock animal breeds database is set up to serve the following purposes:
- As a stable back-end information resource for the Animal QTLdb where breed
information is need in order to properly record animal QTL/associations.
- As part of our efforts to develop Livestock
Breed Ontology (LBO).
The requirements for establishing an entry in this database are: (1) the breed
must be from an existing public animal breed list (see below); (2) the breed
must be "officially" declared or certified by a breed organization or a responsible
govenment agency, and have necessary breed information publicly available.
